From artful creations at the Venice Biennale to creating "intelligent" warehouses for retail giants such as Staples and Walgreens, D'Andrea's work has captured the imagination of scientists, gallery-goers and business people around the world. A designer of complex autonomous systems using advanced algorithms, his genius and creativity have been recognized with a U.S. Presidential Early Career Award in Science and Engineering and the IEEE/IRA Invention and Entrepreneurship Award. In addition to his academic pursuits, DâAndrea is one of the founders of the company, Kiva Systems, which uses a fleet of mobile robotic control units to fulfill purchase orders in warehouses. D'Andrea is a professor at the prestigious Swiss science and technology university, ETH Zurich.
