The Blue Book from the Association of Virtual Worlds lists over 250 virtual worlds (4th edition: August 2008)...However, some VW platforms are not listed, such as Unity3D; others are under related names, such as Croquet that can be found under Cobalt; examples of augmented reality are not mentioned, nor are 2D VWs.
By creating an ARVEL chapter in the VW that you use and report back here (and on the wiki --coming soon), you provide an opportunity for your colleagues to learn more about that particular platform (strength, limits, audience, skills, etc) and create a better understanding of the diversity across the Metaverse....an understanding quite necessary to advise colleagues or clients on a specific VW based on their needs.
How do you do this:
1-Add your name/info to the ARVEL in Virtual Worlds spreadsheet.
2-Create an ARVEL presence at your VW location (resource, contact, objects, etc)
3-Create a Group here on this ning (e.g., ARVEL in Moondus, or ARVEL in Project Wonderland, or ARVEL in OpenSim, etc)
4-Blog on that group about your progress (creating the ARVEL presence, updating your research, blogging about your project or teaching experience, etc)
