Applied Research in Virtual Environments for Learning
"OpenSimulator is an open source multi-platform, multi-user 3D application server. It can be used to create a virtual environment (or world) which can be accessed through a variety of clients, on multiple protocols." source: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Main_Page
The Grid List is a community-generated list of OpenSimulator-based virtual worlds. Many of them are free to use and welcome new users. See the list: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Grid_List
Most of these Open-Sim worlds have their own website and public forum, however, ARVEL is interested in bringing here the discussions involving the research, methods and implementation of those worlds for teaching and learning. Rigorous research will then be archived in our Knowledge Commons on the Wiki.
